Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) at the University of Bayreuth

The University of Bayreuth is a pioneer in innovative research and teaching and its campus orientation provides students with an excellent learning environment. We want to take a step further to new and accessible ways of learning. One important part of that strategy is to create MOOCs: massive open online courses. Linked to our academic key areas and international study programs, our online courses connect researchers as well as thousands of students from over 100 countries. A team of project managers, instructional designers, media producers and marketing specialists guide our professors and lecturers through the entire production process. The goal is to offer an outstanding learning experience to our students worldwide, by presenting the content in a diversified, entertaining way – through videos, 3D graphics, interactive textbooks, podcasts or gamification elements.

Our edX Membership

Our international partner platform edX, a joint creation of Harvard and MIT, currently gathers over 34 million learners from all over the world and offers over 3,000 comprehensive online courses from a wide range of research areas. The University of Bayreuth is the third university in Germany on the renowned platform and can be found as BayreuthX.
